यह वायरस धीरे-धीरे व्यक्ति की संक्रमण से लड़ने की क्षमता कम कर देता है. जब शरीर की प्रतिरोधक क्षमता इतनी कम हो जाती है.       क्या है एचआईवी (What is HIV and AIDS   in Hindi) एड्स यानी एक्वायर्ड इम्युनोडेफिशिएंसी सिन्ड्रोम एक बीमारी है जो ह्यूमन इम्युनोडेफिशिएंसी वायरस या एचआईवी (HIV) के कारण होती है. एचआईवी संक्रमण होने के तुरंत बाद यह एक 'फ्लू’ जैसी बीमारी होती है. फ्लू केवल कुछ दिनों तक रहता है और बहुत हल्का होता है इस कारण लोग इसे पहचान नहीं पाते. यह वायरस धीरे-धीरे व्यक्ति की संक्रमण से लड़ने की क्षमता कम कर देता है. जब शरीर की प्रतिरोधक क्षमता इतनी कम हो जाती है कि वह संक्रमण का विरोध नहीं कर पाता, तो कहा जाता है कि व्यक्ति को एड्स हो गया है. एचआईवी संक्रमण को एड्स तक पहुंचे में 8 से 9 साल लग जाते हैं. अगर किसी व्‍यक्ति को एड्स हो गया है और रोगी को एंटी-रेट्रोवायरल उपचार नहीं दिया जा रहा तो आमतौर पर 12 से 18 महीनों में उसकी मौत हो सकती है. एंटी-रेट्रोवायरल उपचार पर व्‍यक्ति लम्‍बे समय तक सामान्‍य जीवन व्‍यतीत कर सकता है. ध्‍यान रहे यह इंफेक्‍शन कभी ...

Today marks the 24th National HIV Testing Day – a day to encourage people to get tested for HIV, know their status, and get linked to care and treatment. This year’s theme,   Test Your Way. Do It Today. , is a reminder that there are more ways than ever to get an HIV test – in a clinic, from your health care provider, at a testing event, at home, from a local organization, and more!   We are over three decades into this epidemic and have made many strides. HIV treatment works and undetectable equals untransmitable (U=U). But one of the first steps to living well – with or without HIV – is to know your status and, according to the CDC, about one in seven people living with HIV don’t know they have it.
